Anyone can contribute. Share, edit, or browse pages related to Canadian music.

Welcome to the Canadian Music Wiki, an online resource created by CBC Radio 3 and Amanda Ash from the University of British Columbia Graduate School of Journalism. We gratefully acknowledge the financial support of MITACS Accelerate.

This project is dedicated to using collaborative and social media to enrich Canada's music scene by creating a comprehensive guide to Canadian music. We welcome your contributions.

The Canadian Music Wiki is a wiki, meaning you can edit nearly any page at any time. This wiki strives to encourage artists, media and fans alike to contribute their knowledge to this digital resource. We hope it will serve as Canada's hub for everything music-related. So don't be shy; head over to the Getting Started page and learn how you can contribute. It's easy and fun!

Here are a few brief guidelines to follow:

1. Please keep a neutral point-of-view when contributing. The wiki pages aren't for opinion or discussion. They're for facts, biographical information and basic knowledge. However, we encourage you to click on the "discussion" links on each page if you want to start a conversation or share your thoughts. We're sure others would love to hear what you have to say!

2. If you see something is wrong—whether it is grammatical, factual, or formatting—be bold and fix it. This is YOUR wiki. Be proud of it.

3. Please don't vandalize. It's really not worth it.

4. The Canadian Music Wiki is free content.

This site is a beta version. If you have any comments or suggestions to improve this wiki, please email amanda_ash@cbcradio3.com.

    Austra’s Olympia: full album stream
Montreal's Austra became critical darlings in 2011 after releasing their acclaimed debut, Feel It Break , but for singer Katie Stelmanis, it still wasn't the sound she was after. “We had no idea how to realize the sounds I had in my head, so we were working out the processes all the way along,” she said in a press release. Now with the eerie synth-pop band's sophomore release, Olympia , on June 18, it seems Stelmanis and bandmates Maya Postepski (drums) and Dorian Wolf (bass) are much [...]

On Saturday, May 25, at  Echo Beach  in Toronto, 12 bands lined up on two stages for a day of great music, sunshine and dancing as part of the inaugural CBCMusic.ca Festival. Aidan Knight is a Victoria-based singer-songwriter whose first album, Versicolour , was something of a one-man show, with Knight writing all the songs as well as playing most of the instruments himself. Chief Keef Reportedly Arrested for Trespassing, Slapped with Another Paternity Lawsuit
Okay, this is getting crazy. Within the past month, troubled rap teen Chief Keef has been arrested for allegedly smoking weed and speeding, and now he's reportedly been arrested yet again, this time for trespassing. The details surrounding the case are unclear, but the Chicago Sun-Times reports that Keef was in the process of leaving the courthouse after pleading guilty for speeding. He went to his car, but apparently only got three blocks before being stopped, arrested, and slapped with [...]
Amnesia Rockfest Becomes "Organizational Shit Show"
In our review of this weekend's Amnesia Rockfest, Exclaim! contributor Tracey Lindeman described the event as an "organizational shit show." She's not alone in her complaints, since the punk/hard rock-oriented festival has attracted a wave of criticism from concertgoers and local residents alike. So what exactly went wrong? Well, evidently more than 100,000 people attended the event in the small town of Montebello, QC, and critics are saying that the organizers weren't equipped to deal [...]
Saves the Day Announce North American Tour, Share Single Ahead of New Album Release
It's been a while since we last heard from melodic hardcore crew-turned-pop rockers Saves the Day, but this morning (June 17) the long-running outfit re-staked their claim in the game by announcing plans to follow up their 2011 LP Daybreak sometime soon. While very little was shed in the form of album information, the group revealed new tune "Remember" in a press statement today. The song will figure on their eighth full-length, and you can stream the slightly shoegazing pop single down [...]
