Anyone can contribute. Share, edit, or browse pages related to Canadian music.

Welcome to the Canadian Music Wiki, an online resource created by CBC Radio 3 and Amanda Ash from the University of British Columbia Graduate School of Journalism. We gratefully acknowledge the financial support of MITACS Accelerate.

This project is dedicated to using collaborative and social media to enrich Canada's music scene by creating a comprehensive guide to Canadian music. We welcome your contributions.

The Canadian Music Wiki is a wiki, meaning you can edit nearly any page at any time. This wiki strives to encourage artists, media and fans alike to contribute their knowledge to this digital resource. We hope it will serve as Canada's hub for everything music-related. So don't be shy; head over to the Getting Started page and learn how you can contribute. It's easy and fun!

Here are a few brief guidelines to follow:

1. Please keep a neutral point-of-view when contributing. The wiki pages aren't for opinion or discussion. They're for facts, biographical information and basic knowledge. However, we encourage you to click on the "discussion" links on each page if you want to start a conversation or share your thoughts. We're sure others would love to hear what you have to say!

2. If you see something is wrong—whether it is grammatical, factual, or formatting—be bold and fix it. This is YOUR wiki. Be proud of it.

3. Please don't vandalize. It's really not worth it.

4. The Canadian Music Wiki is free content.

This site is a beta version. If you have any comments or suggestions to improve this wiki, please email amanda_ash@cbcradio3.com.

Sex and Chilliwack: Bill Henderson's My Playlist
West Coast icon Bill Henderson is a passionate guy. About life. Certainly about music. He has spent more than 50 years in the thick of it, not just as the lead singer, guitarist and songwriter for legendary rock band Chilliwack, but all the other roads he's taken, including advocating for musicians and songwriters on the industry side. It's not surprising, then, that Henderson has come up with a passionate My Playlist. The recurring theme? Sex. And love: lost, found, temporarily [...]
Queen Victoria’s royal playlist: Mendelssohn, Sullivan, Elgar and more
Queen Victoria is known for being one of the longest-reigning monarchs in history, a leader with strict standards and a penchant for morality who oversaw the British Empire during a period of mass expansion and industrialization. But as we head into the Victoria Day long weekend, many Canadians may not know that Queen Victoria was also a musician. In fact, both she and her husband, Prince Albert, were accomplished pianists and singers, and their shared love of music was part of their attraction. [...]

Kanye West Shares 'Yeezus' Album Art
Yesterday was a big one for Kanye West after word got out that his new album would be called Yeezus before performing two songs on Saturday Night Live . Now, he's shared the album's artwork. Far from a hi-res version of the cover, the above image was shared on Kanye's site along with a preorder link, though both were quickly removed. The jewel case cover is packed with black and gold, and what looks like a melted statue, while it's held shut with red tape. Seemingly confirming both [...]
