Anyone can contribute. Share, edit, or browse pages related to Canadian music.

Welcome to the Canadian Music Wiki, an online resource created by CBC Radio 3 and Amanda Ash from the University of British Columbia Graduate School of Journalism. We gratefully acknowledge the financial support of MITACS Accelerate.

This project is dedicated to using collaborative and social media to enrich Canada's music scene by creating a comprehensive guide to Canadian music. We welcome your contributions.

The Canadian Music Wiki is a wiki, meaning you can edit nearly any page at any time. This wiki strives to encourage artists, media and fans alike to contribute their knowledge to this digital resource. We hope it will serve as Canada's hub for everything music-related. So don't be shy; head over to the Getting Started page and learn how you can contribute. It's easy and fun!

Here are a few brief guidelines to follow:

1. Please keep a neutral point-of-view when contributing. The wiki pages aren't for opinion or discussion. They're for facts, biographical information and basic knowledge. However, we encourage you to click on the "discussion" links on each page if you want to start a conversation or share your thoughts. We're sure others would love to hear what you have to say!

2. If you see something is wrong—whether it is grammatical, factual, or formatting—be bold and fix it. This is YOUR wiki. Be proud of it.

3. Please don't vandalize. It's really not worth it.

4. The Canadian Music Wiki is free content.

This site is a beta version. If you have any comments or suggestions to improve this wiki, please email amanda_ash@cbcradio3.com.

    Annoying your neighbours through music
Picture this:     It's a long weekend , or a holiday sometime in the summer. You're going up to your cottage, or cabin, or even just your back yard. Some place quiet and serene where you can finally get some peace and quiet, and escape the hustle and bustle of the city.      So, you lay back on your hammock, or your lawn chair. Maybe you've got an iced tea or beer in hand, and a novel you're ready to enjoy. The sun's shining. The birds are singing in the trees. Ahhhh. Total [...]
Listen to The Caravan's self-titled album
The Caravan are a three-piece based out of Halifax who, with their 2010 debut, Emerald City , defined themselves within acoustic hip hop, a genre that includes such Golden Era acts as The Fugees, Digable Planets and Arrested Development, but which has also proven popular with Canadian rappers like k-os and Shad . Now with their self-titled follow up album, The Caravan downplay those acoustic roots in order to draw from a much broader sonic palette, which includes everything from cloud rap [...]
    10 weird wrestling/music crossovers
At last week’s Billboard Music Awards, singer Miguel attempted to jump over the audience but didn’t quite make it , resulting in his leg colliding with the heads of a few audience members. If he’d landed the jump, it would have looked pretty impressive. Since he didn’t, many noted it looked like a wrestling move — specifically,  Hulk Hogan’s signature leg drop . This isn’t the first time music and wrestling have overlapped. We’ve assembled 10 unforgettable musical crossovers from the squared [...]

Mount Kimbie Explain the Making of 'Cold Spring Fault Less Youth'
On their forthcoming second album, Cold Spring Fault Less Youth , UK-based duo Mount Kimbie (aka Kai Campos and Dominic Maker) continue to explore a wide range of sounds, textures and influences, leaving constricting labels like "post-dubstep" for others to debate. "It's quite important for some people to have a name for whatever is going on, but it does seem like a bit of a waste of time, really. What is a very crucial part is that we leave no doors closed," Maker tells Exclaim! of the [...]

Remy Shand Finally Returns with New Music
Remember Remy Shand? He's a Winnipeg R&B singer who signed to Motown Records and scored a hit with his 2002 album The Way I Feel (including songs like "Take a Message" and "Rocksteady"). It looks like Shand may finally be venturing out from the "where are they now?" pile, since he's recently uploaded a few new tracks to YouTube. As Soul Bounce points out, Shand posted a soulful new tune called "Where Are We Going?," along with a vintage-looking found footage video. According to the caption [...]
